What You'll Do
As the Billing & Credentialing Assistant, youwillsupport the organization's revenue cycle while helping ensure our clients receivetimelyaccess to care. Youwillwork closely with clinical, administrative, andfinanceteams tomanage billing, provider credentialing, scheduling, and front office operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Medical Billing
- Assistwith preparing, reviewing, andsubmittinginsurance claimsincluding priorauthorizations.
- Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Monitor claims and help resolve denied or unpaid claims.
- Postclient payments and verify the accuracy of insurance paymentsposted through the billing system, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Respond to client billing questions andmaintainaccuratebilling documentation.
- Maintainfee schedules in the billing systemto ensureaccuratereimbursement and billing.
- Assistswith reporting insurance payments to the Finance team to support bank reconciliations.
Provider Credentialing
- Assistwith provider enrollment, credentialing, and recredentialing for Medicaidand commercial insurance plans.
- Maintain credentialing files, licenses, certifications, and required documentation.
- Track renewal deadlines and communicate with insurance companies and providers to ensuretimelyapprovals.
- Update provider information within payer portals and organizational databases.
Client Scheduling & Administrative Support
- Welcome clients with professionalism, compassion, and a trauma-informed approach.
- Verify demographic and insurance information.
- Answer incoming calls andassistclients with scheduling and general inquiries.
- Support front desk operations and help create a positive client experience.
Compliance & Records Management
- Maintain confidential billing and credentialing records in compliance with HIPAA.
- Organize electronic and paper documentation.
- Assistwith audits andreportingwithin medical and behavioral health teams.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associatedegree, certification preferred).
- Two or more years of experience in medical billing, medical office administration, healthcare administration, or a related role.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities whilemaintainingaccuracy.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and HIPAA compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with behavioral health or substance use disorder billing.
- Experience with Medicaid and commercial insurancecredentialing.
- Extensive knowledge ofelectronic health record systems;AthenaOneplatformexperience preferred
- Experience in a nonprofit healthcare or human services organization.
- Knowledge of revenue cycle management and payer enrollment processes.
Work Environment
This position is based in our Rochester, New Hampshire office and requires regular interaction with clients, providers, insurance representatives, and staff. The role includes standard office responsibilities and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

- Ability to work regular scheduled hours.
- Successful completion of required background checks and medical screenings.
