Job Description

Team Leader Wire Harness and Cable Assembly

Client is an electronic manufacturing service provider of cables, harnesses, and printed circuit boards.

A Team Leader position requires strong people-leadership skills first, and working product knowledge second. We are looking for someone who can genuinely lead a small team (4-5 people) - scheduling their work, coaching their performance, and communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines - not simply the most skilled crimper or solderer on the line. A positive, coachable attitude matters just as much as technical background.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Wire Processing Center – cutting/stripping/terminating
  • Set up Machine Dies/Applicators for wire processing
  • Ensure that all products built are of the highest quality.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, delegate task and set deadlines.
  • Manage production schedules given and advise any obstacles to meeting these goals.
  • Schedule shifts and workload for a small team (4-5 people) and serve as the communication link to plant leadership - know what your team is doing, and why, at all times.
  • Instruct employees on proper techniques and workmanship standards.
  • Oversee job setup and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Ensure that time standards for each operation are being met.
  • Recommend new ways to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor performance and report metrics.
  • Oversee area cleanliness and maintain all tooling required.

Knowledge/ Education

  • Associate Degree in Electronics or related industry experience
  • General Computer Knowledge required
  • Machine Operation and experience in product Assembly

Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience actively leading, scheduling, and coaching a small team (2+ direct reports) - not just being the top individual performer
  • The ability to read, understand and assemble prints and drawings.
  • Quality and Bill of Material documentation knowledge
  • Trained and proficient on tooling/tools setup, maintenance and calibration.
  • Preferred knowledge in the following standards
  • Soldering Standards IPC-610
  • Termination and Crimping experience, Standard IPC-620
  • Operation of Wire Processing Machines
  • Strong organizational skills to give the team direction.
  • Positive, coachable attitude - willing to learn and grow with the role; this matters as much as technical skill.
  • Comfortable communicating team status, progress, and roadblocks up to management.
