Palmer Hamilton, LLC is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Maintenance Assistant to support our manufacturing operations in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. This entry-level, hands-on position assists with preventative maintenance, basic equipment and facility repairs, and general maintenance activities while working alongside experienced Maintenance Technicians.

The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and a strong commitment to safety. This position provides hands-on training and an opportunity to develop industrial maintenance skills, with potential to advance into a Maintenance Technician role as skills and experience grow.

Job Duties Include:

  • Assist with preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on forklifts, man lifts, carts, trucks, and other company equipment under direction.
  • Assist with maintenance of CNC machines, presses, cranes, power tools, compressed air systems, and other plant equipment.
  • Perform routine facility maintenance, including lighting, minor plumbing, painting, basic carpentry, furniture repairs, and general building upkeep.
  • Assist with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Complete inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and other preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with equipment installations, relocations, facility improvements, and other maintenance projects.
  • Maintain organized maintenance parts, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Communicate completed work and equipment or facility concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Technicians.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment when trained and authorized.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including LOTO, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance.
  • Previous maintenance, mechanical, manufacturing, construction, automotive, or related hands-on experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
  • Willingness and ability to learn industrial maintenance processes, equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems is a plus.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to learn new skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain required forklift, man lift, and other equipment certifications.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; technical training or coursework in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related field is a plus.
