Machine Operator - Tube Laser $18/hr

The Machine Operator - Tube Laser sets up and operates TRUMPF tube laser equipment to cut and process tube and structural profiles according to production specifications. This position involves loading materials, monitoring machine operation, performing quality inspections, making routine adjustments and ensuring parts are produced safely, accuratel and efficiently.

Job Duties Include:

  • Set up and operate TRUMPF tube laser equipment according to job specifications and work instructions.
  • Load, unload, identify, and organize tube and structural profile materials and finished parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, job routers, and production documentation.
  • Verify machine programs, material types, dimensions, and job parameters before production.
  • Monitor machine operation and make routine adjustments to maintain cut quality and production efficiency.
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Verify dimensions, hole placement, cut locations, and overall part quality.
  • Identify basic machine, material, and cut-quality issues and escalate problems as needed.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning, operator-level maintenance, and consumable checks.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow 5S standards.
  • Follow all safety, PPE, machine guarding, laser safety, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Assist with other fabrication equipment and departmental duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Experience with laser cutting, tube processing, CNC, or fabrication equipment is strongly preferred.
  • TRUMPF experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges.
  • Basic understanding of dimensional tolerances and shop math.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn machine controls and manufacturing software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to safely handle tube and structural materials using appropriate equipment.
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal materials, moving equipment, laser-cutting operations and varying temperatures.
  • Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection and safety-toe footwear.
