Job Summary and Qualifications

You Will:

• Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, caseorganizationin accordance withdepartment procedures.

• Assure positive sample,blockand slide identification

• Prepare andmaintainsreagents for routine stains and histology procedures.

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.

• Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.

You Should Have:

• High School Diplomarequired

• Associate’s degree preferred

• Minimum one year experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred

• State license whererequired(CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)

• General knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes

• Ability to followprotocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples

• Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections withappropriate slideorientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist

• Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens

• General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements

• Excellent communication,team workand organizational skills. Sets a positive example.

• Effective and proactive problem solving anddecision makingskills
