You Will:
Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, caseorganizationin accordance withdepartment procedures.
Assure positive sample,blockand slide identification
Prepare andmaintainsreagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
You Should Have:
High School Diplomarequired
Associate’s degree preferred
Minimum one year experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
State license whererequired(CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)
General knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes
Ability to followprotocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples
Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections withappropriate slideorientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist
Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens
General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements
Excellent communication,team workand organizational skills. Sets a positive example.
