The Dell Medical School is seeking a Clinical Nurse Supervisor for the Ambulatory Clinic.
Purpose
The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that care is coordinated, services are delivered, and care is managed appropriately within designated clinical units. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor supervises all clinical support staff (RNs, LVNs, CMAs and technicians) and provides training, mentoring and coaching as necessary.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervises and oversees the daily activities of clinical support staff within assigned ambulatory care units, including staffing schedules to effectively meet the needs of the providers and patients.
With the support of the Nurse Manager, ensures staff are adequately onboarded, continuous training and competencies are completed and provides regular coaching and feedback, as necessary.
Delegates effectively to share responsibilities with others; Assists with and oversees electronic health record clinical inboxes, ensures the review and completion of ambulatory care unit logs, oversees unit phone system for inbound/outbound calls and voice messages.
Acts as the first escalation point of contact within assigned ambulatory care unit for patient and other clinical matters.
Provides patient education, as needed.
Maintains supply inventory within clinical units, managing costs effectively and efficiently.
Provides direct nursing care to patient population, as needed based on clinic staffing ratios.

Marginal or Periodic Functions:
Provides feedback on process improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
Cross trained in other ambulatory care clinics.
Attends nursing operations meetings, provides subject matter expertise to Clinical Education department.
Assumes responsivity for the clinic operations in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager, as designated.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency while supporting department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; Serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to develop, and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients. Familiarity with all business office machine, i.e., computer, Microsoft word tools, multi-line phones, copier and fax machines.
Must be energetic, organized, dependable, detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to process complex information, break into logical steps/tasks to help solve defined problems, and present it clearly to a range of audiences, ability to multi-task, balance priorities, set and manage timelines for deliverables.
Familiarity with health care delivery, especially value-based health care delivery models and relevant metrics, including patient-reported outcome measures.
Understanding of clinical workflows and experience with performance improvement in clinical settings.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Visio with proven ability to produce professional documents in MS PowerPoint and develop complex Excel models.
High degree of self-motivation and ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, demanding and fluid work environment.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in nursing with at least (2) years of nursing experience in an outpatient or inpatient setting. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Unencumbered Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. BLS certification. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Prior experience in a lead, charge nurse or supervisor capacity. May substitute supervisory experience for years’ experience in the area of nursing related to position.

Salary Range
$93,500 + depending on qualifications
