JOB DESCRIPTION:

Planned Parenthood is in search of a Director of Education. This role will provide strategic planning for Texas and oversight for reproductive health education initiatives that equip people with medically accurate, age-appropriate information, empowers them to make safe and informed decisions, and offers them a non-judgmental and sex-positive framework. This role also provides support for internal leadership development and training initiatives designed to elevate the core competencies of the Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (PPGC)staff.
 
Essential Functions:

  • Provide strategic programming across the affiliate for education initiatives.
  • Supervise Texas' program managers and health educators
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team
  • Lead and manage education programs by providing education and resources to the community inconjunction with the affiliate's strategic goals.
  • Develop and design public health interventions for target area sand/or populations
  • Network with community to position PPGC as experts in reproductive/sexual health
  • Strategically plan outreach programming
  • Strategically market education programming
  • Provide skilled training and coaching to professionals, parents and teens on sexual health
  • Develop and design curricula for variety of populations
  • Exhibit expertise in gender identity and sexuality training
  • Work strategically with development department to leverage education programs in fundraising
  • Present locally,atstatelevelandnationallyonreproductiveandsexualhealthprogramsandsubjects
  • Represent PPGC as professional reproductive/sexual health experts.
  • Integratereproductiveandsexualhealththroughoutagencypromotingsexualityasintegralpartofbeing human.
  • Maintain necessary knowledge and skills to provide leadership to program; stay current on recent studies on sexuality, sexual health and reproductive rights and education, family communication, educational approaches to children, youth, and parents, sexuality and developmental disabilities, and LGBTQ communities.
  • Present approved educational modules in various community venues to agencies to include but not limited to; community based organizations, social service agencies, and faith-based organizations that target parents, youth, seniors, adults and professional groups.
  • Oversight of the planning,implementation and evaluation of program strategies and initiatives,and serving as trainer, presenter and lecturer as needed.
  • Ensure that budget is executed according to (PPGC) policies, norms, and guidelines.
  • Work in collaboration with Development Department by providing information for grants in support of education and to identify, foster and sustain relationship with donors, stakeholders and foundations.
  • Develop program content for grant proposals. Track grant deliverables.
  • Evaluate, assess and report on program deliverables in written reports.
  • Coordinate community engagement and outreach efforts in collaboration with Public Affairs Department to foster public awareness and to provide expertise and to influence decision makers at the local, state, and national levels.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Education, Public Health or equivalent; and ten years related experience and/or training;
