JOB DESCRIPTION:

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is in search of a Digital Communications Coordinator in the Houston area. The Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for implementing the digital components of PPGC’s communications campaigns via social media, email, and website. This position reports to the Communications Manager and is responsible for coordinating with the Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist and Communications Specialist to develop digital strategies and content with the ultimate goal of advancing PPGC’s mission, promoting our health services and growing and engaging supporter audiences.

Essential Functions/Accountabilities

  • Manages PPGC’s social media properties, including timely updates, developing and implementing campaigns, content, graphics, videos, etc.…
  • Keeping up-to-date on new digital trends, and executing online strategies and best practices.
  • Participate fully in brainstorming and planning sessions; identify and share innovative ideas for promoting PPGC, its initiatives, and its positions.
  • Track and analyze social media metrics in order to assess the effectiveness of online strategies and provide timely reports to the Communications Manager.
  • Create and implement diverse outreach strategies to increase the number of social media and digital supporters across service area, with a particular focus on major metropolitan areas.
  • Responsible for building trust with online audiences that PPGC is an expert health care provider, reproductive rights advocate and educator of online audiences on issues surrounding reproductive health care, state politics and regulations of comprehensive health care, and the importance of civic engagement.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and experience with social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.).
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
  • Basic HTML knowledge.
  • Familiarity with constituent management software e.g. MailChimp, ConstantContact
  • Be familiar with progressive and feminist blogosphere.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline driven team environment.
  • Skill in producing clear and consistent high quality work with attention to detail.
  • Skill in proactively researching and quickly synthesizing information, and presenting it creatively in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and complete assignments in an efficient manner, as well as adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, and work collaboratively within Communications and Marketing team, across affiliate teams, as well as external partners and consultants.
  • Ability to work after regular business hours, as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

 

 

Education and Experience

  • At least 2 years of directly related experience
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, PremierPro, Illustrator and/or similar graphic and editing software
  • Experience with content management software
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; Associates degree with 2+  years related experience; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
