DI - Distribution International is looking for a talented and qualified Maintenance Manager for our Fabrication Department in East Houston!



The Maintenance Manager coordinates, organizes and oversees preventive and corrective maintenance and repair procedures, compliance and performance for all of DI’s fabrication equipment.


Goals and responsibilities of the individual in this role:

  • Develop and roll out a preventive maintenance program (along with the Fabrication Manager)
  • Develop a maintenance staffing model and job specifications
  • Document critical preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Audit fabrication shop maintenance compliance and performance
  • Respond to equipment repair needs in a timely manner
  • Participate in new equipment modification, set up and design
  • Establish critical parts inventory to mitigate downtime

Tasks include the following (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Document critical maintenance tasks, procedures and necessary tools
  • Create a universal maintenance program to be rolled out across all of DI
  • Define the hiring standards for DI fabrication maintenance people
  • Train DI fabrication maintenance employees on the proper maintenance of fabrication machinery
  • Coordinate with key vendors to meet DI fabrication needs
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Identifies and coordinates equipment upgrades to improve DI fabrication quality and productivity
  • May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment.
  • Installs electrical wiring and equipment, replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • High School diploma
  • 5 years’ experience
  • Strong preventive maintenance experience
  • Computer proficiency which includes Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), department programs and company systems
  • Excellent communication, organizing, planning and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Must be able to adhere to safety policies and procedures
