The Brock Group is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an opening for a Senior Federal Tax Accountant. The position will be based out of our Houston corporate office and will report to the Tax Manager.




Reports to Tax Manager.  Frequent and regular interaction with Corporate Accounting group, Consolidations Manager, and staff of various Operations Controllers on income tax accounting and reporting matters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing federal, state income/franchise, international tax returns (currently outsourced)
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provision (separate company and consolidated)
  • Prepare annual income tax disclosures
  • Prepare/update transfer pricing studies for U.S. and cross-border transactions
  • Prepare cash tax forecasts for corporate budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare quarterly tax fixed asset schedules from Sage FAS software and tax fixed asset roll-forwards
  • Prepare state decoupling adjustments for state tax returns
  • Prepare tax account reconciliation schedules
  • Assist with federal/state/international income/franchise tax audits
  • Conduct tax research, as necessary
  • Work on special projects, as necessary





  • Minimum 4-5 years of U.S. federal corporate tax experience, either in-house with U.S. multinational corporations or in public accounting, preferably Big Four.  State and international tax experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to operate in a multi-task and deadline driven environment and to work independently.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 740 (FAS 109, FIN 48, FIN 18, APB 23) and related U.S. GAAP principles, experience with SEC external reporting requirements and administration of Sarbanes Oxley compliance process.
  • Strong analytical skills and general understanding of U.S. corporate tax law (an emphasis in international corporate tax is a plus).
  • Highly self-motivated, takes initiative, as well as has the ability to identify and address issues, and works efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively write memos and communicate with other corporate departments.
  • Proficiency in software applications, primarily Microsoft Word and Excel, ONESOURCE Tax Provision (“OSTP”) software (formerly TaxStream) (preparation), RIA Checkpoint, and Sage FAS.
