JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Brock Group is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a Corporate Tax Manager position. This position will be based out of our Houston, TX corporate office.

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review federal, state income/franchise, international tax returns (currently outsourced), including manage return processes with external preparer
  • Review quarterly and year-end tax provision (separate company and consolidated)
  • Review annual income tax disclosures
  • Review transfer pricing studies for U.S. and cross-border transactions
  • Prepare and/or review cash tax forecasts for corporate budgeting and forecasting
  • Review quarterly tax fixed asset schedules from Sage FAS software and tax fixed asset roll forwards
  • Review state decoupling adjustments for state tax returns
  • Review tax account reconciliation schedules
  • Manage and coordinate federal/state/international income/franchise tax audits
  • Conduct tax research, as necessary
  • Work on special projects, as necessary

 


Reports to Tax Director, one direct report.  Frequent and regular interaction with Corporate Accounting group, Consolidations Manager, and staff of various Operations Controllers on income tax accounting and reporting matters.
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6-8 years of U.S. federal and state corporate tax experience, either in-house with U.S. multinational corporations or in public accounting, preferably Big Four.  International tax experience a plus (predominately Canadian and FATCA).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to operate in a multi-task and deadline driven environment, to work independently, and to effectively manage staff.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 740 (FAS 109, FIN 48, FIN 18, APB 23) and related U.S. GAAP principles.
  • Experience with financial statement reporting requirements and administration of Sarbanes Oxley compliance process (experience with SEC external reporting a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills and a broad understanding of U.S. corporate tax law with an emphasis in international corporate tax.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively write memos and communicate with other corporate departments and upper management.
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to operate in a multi-task and deadline driven environment, to work independently, and to effectively manage staff.
  • Highly self-motivated, takes initiative, as well as has the ability to identify and address issues, and works efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in software applications, primarily Microsoft Excel and Word, ONESOURCE Tax Provision (“OSTP”) software (formerly TaxStream), RIA Checkpoint, and Sage FAS
    [Note: Knowledge of OSTP and FAS is a big plus, but functional knowledge of TaxStream and minimal knowledge FAS is also acceptable and is not a deal breaker – can be trained. However, need to at least have had some exposure to OSTP].
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting a plus
